To score a word, click on the button for the number of letters in the word. Score points as follows:
3 letter words = 1 point,
4 letter words = 1 points,
5 letter words = 2 points,
6 letter words = 3 points,
7 letter words = 5 points, and
8 or more letters words = 11 points.
You can customize word point values by
Edit -- Game Type Attributes -- Piece Names and Score Points
.
Click the
Edit
button to add, remove or change scored words for a player.
You can type in the actual words to keep a permanent record of the game. In the
Edit
dialog, click the
Add
button to add a new word. Or select any word already in the list. Type the word into the Replace Text input field. Then click the
Replace Text
button.
The clock is reset when you click the
Game Reset
button (scores are not reset ). Scores are reset to zero by clicking the
New Game
button or
Actions -- Scores Reset
.
Number of Periods: 1
Period 1: 3 minutes using a Gong Timer. Boggle uses one clock for all players. Players have until the clock expires to compile their list of words.
Change the current
Period Length
if desired via the
Period
toolstrip.
You can customize the game time controls any way you like, then save the game as a Favorite game for future play. Customization includes: add more periods, change period lengths, set Delay and Bonus, set required moves per period, and many more settings. To customize go to Edit -- Time Control -- Edit Periods .
There are no official penalties or bonuses in this game. However, the program allows you to apply them if you chose. You can edit penalty and bonus values which appear on the
Score Adjust
toolstrip by
Edit -- Game Type Attributes -- Penalty and Bonus Points
. Default values are set for Penalty (-1) and Bonus (1). You can also adjust a player's score by any amount with the
Plus-Minus
button on the
Score Adjust
