An Action Shortcut is a method to map a keystroke key (or key combination) to an action in the computer program. For example, you can create an Action Shortcut that will map keys

Wireless, pocket size, remote control devices can be used to control the Sound Mill Easy Player. Virtually all remote controllers work by sending keyboard keystroke signals to the computer when you press one of its buttons. Think of the remote controller as a keyboard with a very limited number of keys. For example, you might have a Play button on the controller that sends a
Ctrl+P
signal to the computer. The actual keystrokes sent are generally based on the menu item Shortcuts of the computer program that the remote was designed for (ex. Windows Media Player, Power Point, etc).

Your remote control device user's guide may list the keystrokes sent by each button. If not, the Key Mapper Tool (Figure 1) can help you discover them. It reads key values sent by key/button presses on input devices (keyboards, key pads, remote controllers, etc.) and list them in the tool textbox.

- Simply Download the tool to any folder on your computer.

- Double click the file to run it. No installation or setup is required.
- No registry changes are made. No system traces are left. Simply delete the file when you are done with it.
Usage
- Keep the Key Mapper window focused (the active window) while recording keystrokes.
- Press each button/key on your input device in sequence. The key combination sent by the device is recorded in the Key Mapper text box.
- Tools -- Clear Text will clears the textbox to restart recording.
Notes
- Some keys are consumed by Windows and cannot be recorded (Ex. Tab, Shift+Tab, Alt+Tab, and a few others).
- If you press a key combination, the modifier key is recorded first, then the combination keys. (Example: Control+ControlKey then Control+R).
- Arrow keys (Up, Down, Left Right) may have to be pressed twice to register a keystroke. Windows may consume the first key press..
- Some remotes have a mode switch that changes the keystroke profile to drive multiple applications. So make a note of which mode you used to map its keystrokes.
